*Peeks up from behind a book* Oh! Hey there. sorry, I was just— *shoves stack of books aside* —sorting through my— *book falls from top shelf* —ugh, books! *Dives to catch it* There's a lot of good stories on these shelves. Especially this stack right here.
You know, when I first sat down to compile five books that made me who I am today, I must admit I was just a tad stumped. Then it hit me, like this book almost did. The list turned into a little trip back in time as I came to realize that they included the very tales my mom read to me when I was a wee thing. Reading was a huge part of my childhood, so forgive me a small jaunt down memory lane as I share my favorite, most memorable stories.
This one was the easiest. ;) I've been reading the Bible since...well, since I could read, and before that, it was read to me. My favorite books are 1&2 Timothy, Psalms, Revelation, and... for some reason, I love listening to the audio of Lamentations. This particular edition is the one I currently have, and I love it.
My favorite poem collection growing up, Mom would read Plum to me on a regular basis. That's really something when I was not the biggest poetry fan. The Minstrel and The Maid and Mrs. Rumages Muddle-up Shop are my favorites, up there with The Freak Cat Flea and The Histon Boulder.
My childhood Dr. Seuss collection was well stocked. Yes, technically this one wasn't written by the Suess himself, but it was on the same shelf because even five-year-olds know a thing or two about shelf organization. ;) Go, Dog. Go! always made it to the read-aloud stack. Just a fun read, you know?
Like I was saying, Dr. Suess... *achem* This I may like even over Fox in Socks. But... that might be due to the fact that people were more reluctant to read Fox in Socks aloud. Not that I blame them. ABC on the other hand was an easy addition to the read aloud stack.
Last but not least... Are You My Mother? We wore this book ragged when I was young. I mean, Snort was the coolest part of the book for two-year-old me. It's beautiful in its simplicity, and the ending never got old (at least to younger me).
And there you have it, folks! The Five Books That Made Me Who I am, cause books shape you and you're never too young for books. Tune in tomorrow for my Top Five Indie books (because I don't read enough Fantasy to have five. Rats.) But be sure to comment and share your own impactful reads down below!

This is so fun! Loved this line up!
Oh! Doctor Suess.. *says this dreamily and nostalgically* 😉 I had to giggle when I saw these on your list. I loved Doctor Suess. Green Eggs and Ham was my favorite. 😉😊
Lol, I remember Are You My Mother? and Go Dog, Go. Those were some good ones!

Aww, Plum! I also grew up on that. Even to this day, I still read it aloud to my little siblings :) And, of course, Dr., Suess! Never could get enough of him growing up :D
How did I not know you had a blog?? Happy to see you join the blogosphere, girl!! This is such a fun list :D Dr. Seuss is such a staple. I didn’t read him much as a kid (shockers!!) but I am exploring his books now as an adult and reading it to my little siblings, and we love his stuff!
